The statistics are startling. The American Society for Training & Development estimates that U.S. companies spend more than $100 billion annually on employee training. Yet, research indicates that a very large percentage of those dollars do not result in behavioral change.
Human resource departments across the corporate world have long been frustrated by internal and external training programs of all sorts that don’t move the needle.
It’s against this backdrop that European entrepreneurs Peter Hall and Ron Schickler have launched PresentationGym as the antidote to ineffectual training in the key categories of public speaking and presentation.
The interactive web-based training module came to my attention when approached by Peter Hall about joining the organization’s stable of coaches. I subsequently signed on as one of PresentationGym’s U.S. coaches.
It’s far easier to show you rather than tell you how PresentationGym works by having you view this short video.
As you can see, it’s a powerful and useful technology.
Yes, unlike so much web-based training, PresentationGym has human coaches working directly with the business professionals being trained. Those being coached don’t sit and listen to theory, they use PresentationGym’s tools to record themselves doing an actual presentation for evaluation and direct feedback from their coach.
Anybody who has ever watched themselves present on video knows the power of seeing oneself from a more detached, objective standpoint – from the audience’s point of view. Only then do our tics and habits – good and bad – come into full view. Once cognizant of such things, our ability to make improvements is magnified. Our strengths are amplified, our weaknesses mitigated or eliminated altogether.
This is individualized full-engagement training of the kind that accomplishes the objectives of human resource departments and their training dollars.
Obviously, I’m a fan of the program. That’s why I’ve signed on as a member of PresentationGym’s coaching staff.
If you’re looking for such training, I’d be very enthusiastic about coaching you or your people. Just give me a call at (925) 449-1040, or write to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
My PresentationGym coaching package includes phone-, email- and web-based interaction. I supplement my feedback with videos and analysis of some of the best public speakers and presenters.
It’s a multi-channel approach as modern as the environment businesspeople operate in these days.
